 Israel president Mr. Ruvi Rivlin

EMIS students and staff visited with Israel president Mr. Rubi Rivlin at his official residence. Mr. Rivlin said that for him this was one the most moving moments of his presidency, seeing how our mission to use education  as a force for peace in our region is being put into practice. Five of our students addressed the president and shared some of their "Jerusalem Project" experience as well as being a student at EMIS.

Benjamin from Poland said: "In EMIS, my horizons have been broadened. I realised how pointless are fears of people of other cultures or religions, I learnt to appreciate values that are at stake in contemporary world: tolerance, respect, open-mindedness, and yet there is a long way to go, a lot more to understand."

Ameen from East Jerusalem neighborhood of Shuafat said: "To me, this school is an opportunity. With the amazing opportunities and multicultural people you are surrounded by at EMIS, you are encouraged to leave your comfort zone: to venture far and deep into your stretch zone where you are able to experience the wonders of life and to expand your horizons."

Jerusalem Project Week

Recently, our students had the chance to go on an amazing opportunity in which they were able to visit Jerusalem, see its holy sites, conduct projects within the city, to learn outside the classroom, and to connect their learning with the mission of the school. Jerusalem Week, which took place on the 30th of January to the 1st of February, was an opportunity for students to engage with their surroundings and to learn more through seeing different parts of the city and hearing different opinions on the city. EMIS students ran the afternoon session, they lead small groups discussions to shape YOCOPAS 2017. It was decided that next year's conference theme will be"Cross Borders" .

Chinese New Year Celebration at EMIS

Chinese New Year Celebrations come to Tel Aviv!

On 24th January 2017, Chinese students from EMIS paid a visit to the Spring Festival at Tel Aviv University to take part in the Chinese New Year celebrations. There was a traditional Chinese Tea Ceremony, a quiz, lectures by professors at the University and a chance to try some delicious Chinese dumplings! The students celebrated afterwards with a traditional Chinese meal where they shared stories and laughter with friends who are so far away from home.

The students from EMIS wish you a GONG XI FA CAI!

The Running Club

Following the EMIS tradition of engaging with local communities and volunteer around Israel, the EMIS Running Club is raising funds to organize a purim party for refugee children.

In collaboration with the non-governmental organization OneDay Social Volunteering, the Running Club has been training for the Samsung Urban Marathon 10k to run for a cause. The 35 kids have indeed decided to leave a positive mark upon their sorroundings by teaming up with OneDay and organizing a late Purim party, April 7th, for refugee kids with fun and sports themed stations.

In order to afford the paint and the many other things they need to make less fortunate children smile, they need your help.

Share, spread and donate!
